Day 1 (30 Day Challenge)
Write some basic things about yourself.
Well most of my interests are listed in my bio, so I’ll try and not repeat. I am a geek, but I honestly feel like I’ve somehow managed to be a cool, confident geek with some style. Which I guess is a weird way of saying I feel like I’m better than all the other geeks out there.
Music is my passion. I’m constantly scouring the interwebs trying to find new and exciting things. I always feel like I’m a few years ahead of everyone in terms of what music people eventually warm up to. I’m not one of those people that look for obscure bands or anything, I just feel I have a good radar. I find the music before everyone else does. Hopefully I can parlay that into a career one day.
In terms of music I’ve gone through many genres. This is going to sound crazy, but my very first musical genre I loved was “American Civil War” music. I’m not even kidding. It eventually turned into me loving the Top Gun soundtrack after that (Top gun was my first obsession - I used to watch it at least twice a day as a tiny tike). Then the song “Shine” by Collective Soul came out around 7th grade. And I was also given the album, Purple, by Stone Temple Pilots for my birthday that year. My life instantly changed.
Seeing as how this could turn into a very long post about music, I’ll just try and track the genres I loved (in order). Civil War music, Top Gun soundtrack, alternative, grunge, big band, rock, classic rock (zeppelin and floyd phase), jazz, hip hop, trip hop, electronic, and now to drum & bass and melodic dubstep (there are so many genres of dnb that I’m not even going to elaborate). And for the record, Alice in Chains and Filter have stood the test of time as being my favourite bands. Currently everything on the Kokeshi, Hospital, Metalheadz, and the Lifted Music record labels is my favourite music.
Well this was supposed to be a little more vague and a more rounded post about me, but I think that’s it for now. And yes kiddos, it really does sound MUCH better on vinyl.
